Nooshin Farahpour (born 1969)  was born in Tehran and grew up close to the Alborz mountains. Her childhood was cultured, her father was a prominent architect, her late mother was a nascent artist and poet. She migrated to the United States, and attended Cal State Los Angeles and graduated from Loyola Marymount University. In the past decade, her studio practice has become focused on the space between nature and abstraction, between a cultural heritage and an art beyond borders. Her work in this exhibit began with Farsi text as a point of departure. In a painterly manner she drove that text as far she could toward abstraction, pausing to refuel her practice with beauty.
